In a previous article, we have shared four ways on how to train a football dribbling change of direction breakaway shot using THE AIR TRACK MAT. I don't know if you've read it yet, but if not, I suggest you return to it in order to read this article successfully.
Today, we continue to share our training methods and call for the air track to be put into motion so that "learning to use" can actually happen. Let's take a closer look.
In groups of four, one student in each group acts as the defender and holds the mat open at the knees. The remaining three students act as the attacker and take the ball from the marker plate, change direction and break away from the defence and shoot.
Purpose of the exercise: In the transition from stationary defence to manned defence, the teacher usually starts the defender with a negative defence. However, in practice, students find it difficult to master the degree of passive defence, either standing almost still and making the defence meaningless, or going all out on every shot and making it difficult for the attacker. Having the defender hold the gymnastics mat at the knees limits the speed at which the defender can move from side to side, but the defence does exist, which is a good solution to the problem of students not knowing how to defend negatively. The attacking player completes the shot and then does two more breakaways in quick succession along the touchline, not only allowing the students to reinforce the technical movements but also increasing the density of practice in the classroom.
Exercise 6
Tiered improvement exercise. On the basis of the previous exercise, students who have finished better are selected to improve the difficulty of the exercise. The defender holds a small mat to interfere with the attacker's breakthrough and shot, or the defender and attacker go one-on-one and the attacker uses the techniques learned in the lesson to break through the defence and finish the shot.
Purpose of the exercise: The way the defender defends with a small pad increases the defensive area, which forces the breakers to change direction and accelerate after the break to get away from the defence. This exercise simulates a real game situation and helps students to gain experience in attacking and defending.
