Carrying handle

You might inflate an inflatable gymnastic air mat and place it in the area where it will be used. But, then again, this may not always be the case. Carrying handles on either side allow you to carry or slide the mat into position. Handles with a rubber coating or finger grips provide better control. The longer the mat, the more handles it should have. Some mats are long enough that it may take four to six people - each using one handle - to move them.

Double valves

The key to successful use of a gym mat is to control the air pressure. The dual valve design provides more control, allowing you to fill or deflate the air to achieve the right pressure without affecting the overall inflation. One valve is usually used for inflation while the other valve regulates the pressure.

Splicing function

Inflatable gym mats are only 3 to 3.5 feet' wide, which may not be enough for some uses. Some mats have Velcro strips around the bottom edge. The connecting strips can then be used to join the two mats for side-by-side placement and use. The manufacturer may include the connecting strip in the mat, while some need to be applied or purchased separately.

UV coating

Backyard tumbling can be the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise. Some gymnastic air rails have a protective UV coating to reduce damage to the mat from the sun.
