In the previous article I have explained why air track mats are so handy and how to choose the right length of air track mat for your needs.
As mentioned in the article, when deciding how long we want to buy an air track mat, we need to consider whether we have enough space in our home and what skills we intend to use to work with. Today, let's look at how to decide on the height or thickness of an air track mat.
Air rail mats come in a range of thicknesses/heights. Thickness refers to the height when inflated, and the height from the ground to the top of the air mat. You can decide how to make your choice depending on your needs.
The greater the thickness, the less likely you are to 'bottom out' or feel the floor under the air rail mat. You use it simply to avoid bottoming out, as this can lead to injury, and will reduce bounce.
Options for different occasions
A thickness of 4" (10cm) is ideal for home use. You'll get good bounce and it's easy to transport. In the gym, we put it on a mat or track to provide extra comfort. At home, this thickness of air mattress works well on carpet or grass.
The 8" (20cm) thickness of the air track mat provides extra protection and bounce at home, especially on harder floors such as laminate.
The 12"-13" (30 cm) height is usually found in professional gyms. They are generally thicker, but are heavier to install and not as easy to carry. They are also usually more expensive.
The 90"-100" heights are found in the older primitive air tracks that appeared in the early 21st century. These require a larger electric pump and have to be constantly on when the air rail is in use. They are not suitable for domestic use as they are very noisy and heavy to move.
Have you decided how long and thick an air track pad to choose? If you have made your decision and would like to buy an air track mat, welcome to Kameymall.
