Zorb ball is a sport that involves travelling downhill in a huge air-cushioned hollow ball.
Zorb: A zorb is a huge spherical ball into which one can fling oneself down a large hill.
The Zorb is a shock-absorbing double-sectioned ball with one ball inside the other and a layer of air between them. The Zorb is held together by several little ropes that connect the inner and outer balls.
Andrew Akers and Dwane van der Sluis designed a large inflatable ball for people to leap into and roll around in in 1994. They thought they could walk on water with the ball at first, but they soon discovered they could have more fun rolling down hills with it.
A ball in a television commercial with people inside inspired Andrew and Dwane. The ball deflated as the people exited it. When Andrew and Dwane watched the ball losing air, they were deflated, so they came up with a new twist. The zorb was formed when they invented a ball with two skins.
Zorbing is usually done on gentle slopes, but it can also be done on a flat surface.
Dry Zorbs and Wet Zorbs are the two types of Zorbs available.
Zorb (Dry): You'll be securely fastened in a Dry Zorb as they roll down the slope.
Wet Zorb: You are not strapped in a Wet Zorb, and you are encouraged to stand up and run within the zorb like a hamster in a wheel, staying upright all the way to the bottom.
Water is put into the zorb in this little variation. The Hydro ride has no harness and is filled with water so you (and a friend or two) may slip, slide, and spin all the way down the hill inside the Zorb. Warm water is used in the winter for a relaxing spa experience. It's a combination of a waterpark and a rollercoaster.
